Roxy Leisure is celebrating a decade of trade as it prepares to open its 19th site in York early next year.

The business was initially founded with the Roxy Ball Room in Boar Lane, Leeds, by brothers Matt and Ben Jones back in 2013.

The duo spotted a gap in the market to offer a multi-concept experiential led business backed by a premium food and drink offer.

The success of the first site led to the rapid opening of the company’s bowling concept Roxy Lanes in Bond Street, Leeds on 2014, and over the following nine years, the company has forged a path in the in-bar entertainment sector.

The company describes its offer as “booze & ball games” and “bringing the playground to the bar”, offering a range of gaming opportunities to visitors all under one roof, from bowling to batting cages, shuffleboards to curling and all inbetween.

That initial launch laid the foundation for rapid growth and the company now operates 18 sites across the UK in 10 cities, including Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Nottingham, Leicester, Cheltenham and Bristol.

While the latest site is set to go live in York in February, the company has plans for five further new opening in York, Nottingham, London and Glasgow.

Matt Jones, Co-Founder of Roxy Leisure said: “Competitive socialising is now a huge sector in the leisure industry and the fastest growing but by being one of the first to operate in this space, we have learnt so much over the last 10 years.

“We are never complacent when building our venues and always strive to ensure each new site is bigger and better than the last. The future vision for Roxy is to keep on opening sites in locations that are deprived of good quality competitive socialising.

“We have another nine sites (and growing) signed up and ready to build over the next few years. By our 15th birthday, we’re aiming to have 40 venues across our brands around the UK!”

Ben Warren, Managing Director of Roxy Leisure added: “I still walk past the original site on Boar Lane and get goose bumps! I have fond memories of opening the bar 10 years ago, from visiting the empty space when we signed the lease, and then seeing Matt's ideas come to life just 12 weeks later.

“Roxy has evolved naturally, and we're always excited to explore the next venue to see what else we can bring to the table, with a great team of people adding to the success!"
