The extension for the east London site was recently granted after “undeniable support” from landlords Ballymore and Hammerson.
The site has been open since 2011 and has been a cultural hot spot for the community. Boxpark has showcased independent businesses throughout the years and has attracted over 1.25m visitors per year.
Boxpark has hosted more than 250 independent brands, generating almost £100m economic value for the area, similarly creating 270 jobs per year.
Certainty provided
Boxpark chief operating officer Ben McLaughin said: “The extension of our lease provides certainty to the 47 small, independent businesses, and hundreds of their employees across our Shoreditch site.”
McLaughin explained that the team is committed to improving customer experiences with aims of also supporting its tenants. The venue is also set to host a series of events and initiatives to celebrate the new lease extension.
He noted that the support received from the local community had been “nothing short of of inspiring” adding that the team are thrilled to continue their journey in Shoreditch.
He stated: “As we move forward, we look forward to making the most of our site and partners support to ensure that Boxpark Shoreditch continues to thrive.”
Boxhall Liverpool street launch
Night-Time Industries Association CEO Michael Kill shared his thoughts on the new opening.
He described the lease extension as “a significant victory for independent businesses and the local community”.
Kill added: “The overwhelming support from landlords Ballymore and Hammerson, local authorities and the Greater London Authority is a testament to the venue’s integral role in the community.”
During spring 2025, Boxpark will also launch its social dining concept Boxhall which will be located in Liverpool Street London.
A significant victory for independent businesses
Boxpark is expected to provide a further 150 jobs, the venue is also seeking innovative, premium food and beverage brands to help support the site going forward.
