Data input: the survey aims to gather insights from women across the drinks industry

Celebrate Her, in partnership with Allara Global and CGA by NIQ, has launched the first data census survey for the drinks industry.

The survey aims to gather insights into the experiences of individuals working in the drinks industry, from bartenders and managers to marketing executives and owners.

The goal is to identify both the challenges and opportunities that people encounter in the industry, with an emphasis on the experiences of women in hopes of fostering positive change.

The survey addresses key critical issues such as parenthood, diversity, inclusion, mental health and safety. Questions will vary and explore whether hospitality workers feel their ability to work diminishes after becoming a parent.

It will also touch on whether female bartenders feel unsafe travelling home from work at night. Other points of focus will include the availability of equal opportunities in the workplace.

The survey aims to understand why individuals join and leave the drinks industry, as well as what obstacles they face generally.

Championing positive change

Bar consultant and Celebrate Her founder Anna Sebastian said: “For a long time we have felt like there is a real gap in our knowledge about the people working within the drinks industry.

“While Celebrate Her is about championing women, this survey will allow us to gain invaluable insights into the drinks industry as a whole, information and data that we can then use to make positive changes for everyone.”

The survey is designed to be short, taking around five minutes to complete. It is also aimed at encouraging participation from people of all backgrounds, ethnicities, countries, ages and genders.

Driving inclusivity and innovation

CGA consumer research director Hannah Payne said: “At CGA by NIQ, we are passionate about providing insights that drive positive change within the sector, and our expertise in hospitality research will contribute to the project by helping us to explore and address the experiences and needs of women in this vital sector.

‘With a deep commitment to supporting inclusivity and innovation, we are proud to collaborate on this important initiative to create safer, more supportive spaces for women in hospitality worldwide”.

The survey is set to run for six weeks, where the findings will be analysed by CGA’s research team and shared with industry stakeholders to influence employment practices and attitudes.

Allara Learning and Allara Global CEO Andrew Lewis said: “Hospitality has always been close to my heart; a passion that has defined my career. At Allara Global, we’re passionate about fostering a diverse and inclusive hospitality industry.

“We believe different perspectives drive innovation and enrich guest experiences.

That’s why we’re proud to support Celebrate Her in its mission to champion women, create safe workplaces, and empower the next generation of hospitality leaders.”
