The Publican Awards are fast approaching and here we present those in the running for this year’s Best Partnership Pub Company category.

Fuller, Smith and Turner

This former family brewer jettisoned the beer in a deal with Japanese giants Asahi to focus it’s full attention on creating a first rate pub operation.

Of the 338 pubs under the company’s banner, nearly half, 153 make up the tenanted and leased division, stretching throughout London and the home counties.

A previous winner of the Publican’s Partnership Award, Fuller’s is an impressive operation, boasting strong relationships with its partners, which is reflected in a good length of tenure.

This is a business that works hand in hand with its operators to give them all the tools they need to succeed.

Wells & Co

Having rebranded from the original Charles Wells, and built a new state of the art brewery operation in Bedford, Wells and Co has repositioned itself to drive the pub business forward with a focus on providing great support, services and some fantastic new products on the bar to give its operators a real point of difference.

With the vast majority of it’s 182 estate in the tenanted and leased space, 134, this company boast exceptionally long relationships with its operators, but despite a long history dating back to 1876, this is a business that is refusing to sit still and continues to innovate and adapt to ensure it’s giving its partners the best possible support

Robinsons

Another family business with a pedigree stretching back to the Victorian era, this Stockport-based business has nearly 250 pubs, 218 of which are in the tenanted and leased sector and it continues to invest to drive its partners forward.

This is a company that is set to relocate its brewing operations out of the town centre and has a superb focus on advocating and pushing for environmental gains throughout both its own business and those of its partners.

A flexible approach to partnership also allows operators to flourish in challenging circumstances and it’s a business that works hard to ensure success for all.

Laine Pub

The young upstart of the group, Laine traces its history back to the mid-1990s in Brighton and now numbers 54 pubs across the South East and into Birmingham. The company operates a managed partnership model with a broad mix of partners operating pubs across its estate from a wide variety of backgrounds.

A desire to reinvent the pub for the next generation of both operators and consumers drives the business forward and innovation is a big part of the mix. The recent launch of the its PUBBL app has given its operators an exceptional marketing tool that is helping to drive success throughout the business.
