New innovation: Heineken UK launches Inch's Riversider (Heineken UK)

Heineken UK has expanded its Inch’s cider range with the release of a new flavour.

Inch’s Riversider (4.7% ABV), is a premium apple cider being introduced on draught for pubs and bars this spring.

Riversider has been described as a “lightly sparkling and slightly hazy” cider with an appley flavour and a clean, balanced finish.

It marked the second new product innovation for Inch’s, which was originally launched in 2021, in March, following the release of Inch’s 0.0% earlier this month.

Success to success

According to Heineken UK’s most recent cider report, also released this month, the category is now worth £2bn to pubs.

The report added apple cider accounted for 26% of the draught cider market, equating to £10,200 per pub per year.

Figures from CGA, as detailed in the report, estimated 342m pints and 11m bottles of cider were sold in the on-trade during the 12-months to December 2024.

Heineken UK cider brand director Rachel Holms said: “We have seen Inch’s Apple Cider go from success to success in the on-trade, and the launch of Inch’s Riversider™ is set to meet significant demand for consumers with innovation in the premium apple cider segment."

Great new taste

To support the release, Heineken UK will be providing operators stocking the new serve with PoS kits alongside a nationwide multi-media campaign.

Holms added: “We continually evaluate our cider portfolio to find new ways to drive value into the category, and Inch’s Riversider™ offers a great new taste and striking look and feel – making this an attractive choice for operators, and a pint that is certain to bring more discerning drinkers across the country into the cider category.”

Last week, Heineken UK shared how to make a Honey & Apple Cider Sour cocktail with The Morning Advertiser (The MA), using Inch’s cider or Inch’s 0.0%.
