London-based operators recently told The MA the boom in consumer desire for stout is not just a trend that will go away.
Moreover, the category was recently found to have been the only segment in the craft beer market to have seen growth last year.
Mash Gang Lesser Evil

Low-alcoholic beer brand Mash Gang’s latest innovation, Lesser Evil, is a 0.5% ABV pastry stout.
Described as a “masterful blend of rich chocolate, vanilla, velvety oats with a generous dose of sweet and sour cherry juice”, the new brew offers a cake-like drinking experience.
Lesser Evil is available now direct from Mash Gang priced at £39.99 for 12x440ml cans.
Tiny Rebel Coal Drop

Earlier this year, independent and B-Corp certified Welsh brewer Tiny Rebel joined forces with LWC to release a new nitro stout.
Coal Drop (4.1% ABV) was described as “easy-drinking, smooth, creamy and sessionable”, combining pale malted barley with a blend of rich kilned and roasted malts.
Brewed at Tiny Rebel’s Rogerstone’s brewery in Newport, the name ‘Coal Drop’ pays homage to the mining history in and around Newport and the surrounding South Wales Valleys, and the rich earthy colour of stout.
Commenting on the launch, Tiny Rebel co-founder Brad Cummings said: “There’s a stout revolution, and it’s safe to say Coal Drop will more than rise to the occasion.
“The velvety brew has been ten months in the making, and the coffee and chocolate aromas, blended with the smooth roasted malt mouthfeel, makes the perfect drop. We’re excited to partner with LWC to bring our stout to the masses.” Read more here.
