Greene King is investing £10m in a new HR and payroll platform over the next five years in partnership with Workday.

The new the cloud-based system will digitalise processes such as booking time off and viewing payslips.

The company said the cloud-based HR platform brings with it a host of benefits for both the business and team members by streamlining processes and enabling faster decision making.

It will allow Greene King team members to easily access their information and will also help to streamline processes for line managers in its pubs and offices, by providing easy to understand reports and analytics to aid decision making.

Company investment

Greene King is the first pub company to partner with Workday and roll out the platform at this scale to its 40,000 team members.

Greene King chief experience officer Andrew Bush said: “We want Greene King to continue to be a great place to work and our £10m investment in the Workday system will make navigating some of our HR systems much easier for our teams, helping them to be more efficient so they can help to deliver a brilliant experience for our customers.”

He said this strategic investment, which has taken two years to develop, would help the company continue to build more people-focused services for its teams.

Modernising HR

Workday general managed UKI Daniel Pell said: “Greene King is leading the way in modernising HR across the hospitality sector.

“This investment marks a bold step forward, not just in technology, but in how they support their 40,000 team members.

“By streamlining processes and improving access to data, Greene King is enabling managers to spend less time on admin and more time delivering great customer experiences. We’re proud to be their partner in building a more connected, people-centric business.”

The new Workday platform is being rolled out to team members across the company throughout April and May.
