The Hero IPA, created in collaboration with Surrey-based Hogs Back Brewery, commemorates the 80th anniversary of VE Day later this month.
In addition, for every pint sold, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Help for Heroes charity, supporting veterans and their families.
The family butcher has been supporting Help for Heroes since 2010, raising more than £300k for the charity through sales of its products.
Supporting heroes
Alf Turner managing director Paul Turner said: “We are thrilled to introduce The Hero IPA.
“This beer is not only a tribute to the heroes of the past but also a way to support the heroes of today. We hope everyone enjoys this special brew and joins us in supporting a worthy cause.”
A mellow Indian Pale Ale with an ABV of 4%, the Hero IPA has been crafted using Hogs Back’s home-grown Cascade hops and Mosaic hops from the USA.
The unique combination resulted in a beer bursting with citrus and tropical notes, offering a refreshing and flavourful experience.
Dedication to quality
Pubs will be able to order the new collaborative brew from today (Thursday 1 May) through Hogs Back Brewery, known for producing its flagship Tongham TEA ale (4.2% ABV).
The Hero IPA will initially be released in cask and 50L keg formats before being released in 440ml cans later this summer.
Hogs Back Brewery managing director Miles Chesterman added: “Working with Alf Turner has been a fantastic experience.
“Their dedication to quality mirrors our own, and we are proud to produce a beer that not only tastes great but also supports our veterans.”
