Sales boost: Key trading days for pubs in summer 2025

The Morning Advertiser has looked at the key trading dates coming up this summer.

With Father’s Day, bank holidays, industry conferences, and a myriad of sporting events set to take place over the coming months, summer 2025 is shaping up to provide a much-needed boost to trade.

Data from CGA by NIQ, showed pubs, bars and restaurants benefitted most from Valentines Day, Mother’s Day, St Patrick’s Day, Father’s Day and Halloween in 2024.

Last year, Father’s Day saw an £824 sales uplift for pubs compared with the annual average, according to data from CGA by NIQ.

In addition, the occasion saw beer sales soar by £449 above the average, while cider was £88 ahead.

Bank holidays also provided a solid uplift for trade in 2024, with more than 45m pints poured across the 24, 25 and 26 August, separate data from Oxford Partnership showed.

It represented a 3.3% growth in draught beer and cider sales against the equivalent bank holiday weekend in 2023, equating to a £5,831 income for the average pub.

Looking to sport, the opening weekend of the 2025 Guinness Six Nations tournament in February saw fans flock to pubs, with more than 16m pints poured, figures from real-time marketing intelligence firm Oxford Partnership revealed.

Research carried out by FANZO earlier this year showed the most popular televised sports to watch in pubs were football, boxing, Rugby union, motor sports and cricket.
