Drinks Masterclass: How to make a Schweppes Ascot Spritz (Schweppes)

This week’s Drinks Masterclass showcases a vodka-based spritz cocktail from Schweppes.

Schweppes Ascot Spritz is made using the brands new Tropical Soda, boasting notes of guava, dragonfruit and hibiscus.

Created to mark the brand’s partnership with Ascot Racecourse, a spokesperson for Schweppes described the cocktail as a “celebration of British heritage, inspired by Schweppes’ Royal Warrant”.

Diverse offering

“The Spritz has seen a real resurgence in recent years, with consumers across the country looking for fresh, fizzy drinks to enjoy during the spring and summer months.

“Being able to offer innovative, signature spritz serves will result in a more diverse beverage offering when consumers are still looking for opportunities to try something new, drive traffic into venues, and promote trade-ups from consumers”, they continued.

Finesse and complexity

The spokesperson added operators could include 15ml of Bianco Vermouth in the Ascot Spirtz or serve the cocktail in a stemmed goblet glass instead of a highball glass for added finesse and complexity.

Schweppes’ Tropical Soda should be stored in the fridge to ensure that the bubbles are at their most effervescent and that the cocktail is served well-chilled.

Ingredients:

  • 150ml Schweppes Tropical Soda
  • 10ml Rose’s Lime Juice Cordial
  • 25ml Vodka
  • Garnished with a lemon disc
