Boxpark has announced the appointment of its first chief growth officer (CGO).

Former group sales and marketing director at Nightcap Group, Michelle Farrell, has taken on the role, overseeing the sales, events, marketing and commercial functions of the business.

With more than 15 years of experience in the hospitality sector, specialising in marketing and sales, Farrell brings a wealth of knowledge to the new role.

Outside of her position at Nightcap, the new CGO has held several senior positions at leading hospitality businesses such as Stonegate and Novus Leisure, acquiring extensive experience in managing large-scale operations and implementing growth strategies.

Brilliant opportunity

Commenting on her appointment, Farrell said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining the team at Boxpark at such a pivotal and exciting time for the business.

“Stepping into this new role is a brilliant opportunity, and I’m looking forward to spearheading Boxpark’s ambitious growth strategy and building on its iconic status. I can’t wait to get started”.

Boxpark, which was founded in 2011 and now operates five sites across London and Liverpool, said the appointment of a CGO aligned with its commitment to “accelerating growth and expanding its UK estate”.

Earlier this year, Boxpark revealed the lease at its flagship Shoreditch location had been extended until September this year.

Exciting plans

The group also recently launched a new premium food hall concept as well as an immersive social gaming experience, Playbox, at its Croydon site.

Following from this, the business said it had “exciting expansion plans” in the years ahead.

Meanwhile, in March, Boxpark announced ex-Fuller’s operations director Matt Snell had also joined the team as its new CEO after Chris Burford, was appointed as chief financial officer (CFO) in January.

Regarding the appointment of Boxpark’s first CGO, Snell said: “We are delighted to be introducing Michelle to the team, and looking forward to leveraging her experience and expertise as we grow as a business.

“This is an exciting time for the business, marking our first appointment of a chief growth officer, and we are confident that she will play a key role in shaping the future of Boxpark.”
