Thomas J Vosper, who runs Historic Pub Crawls on social media and has created a series of books promoting trails through London and beyond, has done a deal with Sphere, Little Brown Book Group.
The deal will see Vosper’s first two volumes of Historic Pub Crawls Through London published on 29 May, while Historic Pub Crawls Through England will land on shelves from 24 July with Historic Pub Crawls Through New York following on 6 November with plans for further titles into 2026.
The idea for the guides came after Vosper hosted a birthday pub crawl across several historic real ale pubs in London, and then found he was inundated with requests from friends to make it a regular occurrence.
Historic Pub Crawls then followed; a curated guide of fun, accessible and fact-filled walks which have taken social media by storm. Each book contains 10-15 thoughtful routes, taking the reader on walks to a selection of carefully chosen pubs in each city, alongside entertaining facts and fascinating historical titbits.
On social media Historic Pub Crawls has over 210k followers across Instagram and TikTok and has sold over 8,500 copies.
Vosper said, ‘Pubs have been at the heart of our towns and cities for centuries, so to turn a fun birthday event into pub crawl routes that have discovered by many through my social media is amazing.
“Now to be able to share them in my books is a dream come true. The team at Sphere have been amazing to help my vision come to life and there’s still so many great pubs and such little time. I can’t wait to release the latest routes to the public and in the meantime, I keep exploring and sharing our amazing pubs and their stories.”
Publisher Kelly Ellis said, ‘I’ve been a long-term fan of Thomas’s pub crawls. His carefully-planned routes really are the dream day out for anyone, like me, who has an interest in history, pubs and beer.
“He’s supporting the pub trade in the most brilliantly charismatic way; it’s no wonder his brand is growing so quickly. Everyone at Little, Brown is very excited to be publishing the Historic Pub Crawls series.”
