The pub opened an 8,000sq ft garden catering for up to 300 people, complete with hireable beach huts, a kids’ play area and castle and an all-weather outdoor sports pergola with TVs showing live sport.
Belle Pubs & Hotels has already invested in the property, which is located in the heart of Hammersmith’s King’s Street with a refurbishment. The interior is decorated with signature red and pink silk roses on the walls and artificial ivy and flowers on the ceiling.
Phase three of the pub’s £1m refurbishment will be the addition of 14 bed and breakfast accommodation rooms, currently planned for later this year.
Garden destination
The pub, which was originally licensed in the 17th century as the Hog and has since been called the Hampshire Hog, has also been an Indian restaurant, and reopened as Hammersmith Belle in January 2025.
The new pub garden officially opened on 24 May with a weekend-long garden party, including food and drink tastings, face painting for children and a jazz band on the Sunday.
Belle Pubs & Hotels managing director Jane White said: “We’re excited to be unveiling our wonderful pub garden that we hope will become a popular destination for families, groups of friends and sports fans throughout the summer.
“My grandmother lived in Hammersmith, just around the corner from the pub, and I have fond memories of visiting the local area during the summer holidays.”
All-weather pergola
She added: “Our beach huts, which are available for private hire, create a unique space for people to get together and our all-weather pergola will be a popular meeting point for sports fans to come and watch this summers’ major sporting events – from the Women’s Rugby World Cup and UEFA Women’s Euros to the British Grand Prix and Wimbledon. And the kids can be kept busy with our newly created play area, complete with castle for exploring.”
For sports fans, inside there are multiple TV screens and two super screens that show a variety of live national and international sporting events - from football and rugby to Formula One and cricket. There is also a BullHitters Winmau-branded darts lounge with five oches, making it a destination venue for darts players.
The Hammersmith Belle is one of five London pubs run by Belle Pubs & Hotels, which was founded by hospitality specialists David Evans and Jane White.
The venues include: Hammersmith Belle, Duchess Belle in Battersea, Fitzrovia Belle located on Tottenham Court Road, Griffin Belle located near Vauxhall and Nine Elms stations, and Moretown Belle near St Katherine’s Dock.
