Learning from mistakes, funding advice and remaining resilient in tough trading conditions are just three of the topics that will be explored at the next MA Leaders Club meeting in Chester.

The conference is set to take place on Thursday 19 June at Rooftop Social Club and we can now reveal a flavour of the agenda.

We’ll be taking a deep dive into the Chester hospitality scene, what’s making it tick alongside where the opportunities and challenges lie with local operators.

The Great British Pub Crawl’s Dale Harvey will be discussing his work, how he sees the sector and why he’s campaigning for it with his social-media focused mission to visit every pub in the UK.

Expert insight

Are you in the club?

The MA Leaders Club is open to multi-site pub operators and meets three times a year around the country for a day of business-focused presentations from top experts and operators/owners. The day is followed by an evening study tour of new and exciting venues. If you're interested in joining and attending this top event, sign up here.

Lumina Intelligence’s Maggie Davis will be presenting the latest figures from the insight firm’s quarterly Operator Data Index, giving a comprehensive analysis of the UK hospitality market.

With a challenging market facing most pub and bar operators, where can you turn for funding to turbocharge your growth?

A number of experts will be providing their insight including OakNorth’s Stewart Haworth, Barclays’ Bob Silk and Piper’s Yasha Estraikh.

As a result of tough trading, challenges increase and we’ll hear from the Licensed Trade Charity CEO Chris Welham on how operators can remain resilient and ensure they’re looking after themselves as well as their teams.

Trend bucking

With all the focus on contraction, it’s easy to forget there are operators out there still growing. Chickpea’s Ethan Davids, Punch Pubs’ Stephen Allen and Blind Tiger Inns’ Chris Tulloch will outline how they are bucking the trend.

Meanwhile, time is running out for Covid Business Interruption claims. Insurers are being forced to reconsider refusal and Sector Associates’ Steven Swift will highlight how operators can claim back what they are owed.

We’ll also hear from cheffing legend Gary Usher about his love from running acclaimed and crowdfunded restaurants to opening his first pub and what he’s learned along the way.

Fellow operators William Lees-Jones of JW Lees and Craig Mayes of Rileys will also be sharing the mistakes they’ve made and what they’ve learned from them.
