New look and feel: RedCat unveils new carvery concept (RedCat)

RedCat Hospitality is trialling a new carvery experience with kiosk ordering, The Morning Advertiser (The MA) has learned.

The award-winning operator, which runs the Coaching Inn Group and RedCat Independent Pubs, is trialling the concept at its Castle Carvery site the Clocktower in Bowthorpe, Norfolk.

Part of RedCat’s Independent Pubs division, the Clocktower opened to the public on Friday 20 June following a £600k refurbishment investment.

New digital ordering kiosks have been introduced at the pub, powered by Acrelec, enabling guests to place orders for meals and drinks, pay directly at the screen, and receive real-time updates on order status.

Overhauled menus

The overhauled food and drink menu includes slow-cooked topside beef, leg of lamb and vegan wellington dishes, all served with traditional trimmings like locally sourced vegetables and roast potatoes - with gluten-free options also available.

While the carvery is the main attraction, the new menu also offers desserts such as freshly made doughnut’s, nostalgic favourites like ice cream floats and a Pick n Mix station.

RedCat explained the menus had been designed around fast, friendly service and great value.

There will also be a new loyalty scheme introduced, the Castle Carvery Club, which allows guests to build up points to win rewards.

RedCat Independent Pubs chief operating officer Miles Slade told The MA: “We’re excited to introduce this new concept to our Castle Carvery guests – marking a significant milestone in RedCat Independent Pub’s journey.

“This investment not only enhances the guest experience by offering better value, greater convenience and quicker service, but also supports our operational goals – driving efficiency, and enabling our teams to focus on delivering exceptional hospitality.

Forward-thinking

“It’s a forward-thinking step that positions us for long-term growth. The team at the Clocktower are looking forward to having everyone back to the new and improved Castle Carvery.”

The new approach is something the company is looking to potentially roll out to other sites in the future as part of its ongoing capex plan.

Founded by ex-Greene King boss Rooney Anand in 2021, RedCat currently operates around 114 sites.

RedCat group marketing director Kiran Quinn added: “Castle Carvery is all about bringing family, friends and good times together.

“With our refreshed branding and the launch of the Castle Carvery Club, we’re delivering loyalty for customers as well as low pricing, exciting meal deals, and regular promotions.

“Our new look and feel reflects our commitment to fast, friendly service, intuitive layouts, and multiple ordering options for Carvery.

“We’re also proud to support local suppliers and have listened closely to our communities, ensuring Castle Carvery will remain a welcoming local hub for everyone.”
