The pub behemoth launched the craft cider festival today (Friday 27 June) and the event will run until Sunday 6 July inclusive.
A range of up to 15 ciders, including traditional apple ciders, perries and flavoured ciders, will be available at JDW pubs during the festival.
To encourage customers to take part in the festivities, the pub operator has lowered the average price of the guest ciders, which are all suitable for vegans and vegetarians, to £2.99.
Celebration of cider
The ciders on offer include; Barn Screecher (Hunts), Moonshine Rum & Raisin (Broadoak), Toffee Apple (Snails Bank), Midnight Special (Mr Whitehead’s), Peach Mojito (Pulp), Fiery Fox (Gwyne y Ddraig), Rhoobarb & Custard (Barbourne).
All ciders will be available to order at the bar or via the Wetherspoon app.
Wetherspoon chief executive John Hutson said: “The festival is a great celebration of craft cider.
“It will allow our pubs to showcase a selection of superb ciders over a 10-day period.
“All of the ciders will be available at great value- for- money prices.”
Tasting notes on all of the ciders will be available in the JDW pub magazine, with a digital version available via the company’s website.
New range
In Spring this year JDW also held a real ale festival, showcasing more than 30 brews during the 12-day event and slashing pint prices to £1.99.
Meanwhile earlier this month, JDW chairman Tim Martin claimed Pepsi was currently the biggest selling draught product across the pubco’s 800-strong estate.
Wetherspoon, which was named as one of Europe’s top employer last month, has also recently changed up its food and drink offering.
At the end of last year the pubco switched from San Miguel to Poretti at the bar and introduced a new range of gourmet burgers while removing steak from its menus in March this year.
In its most recent trading update, the pub giant reported a rise in sales despite rising costs, notably around employment, with the Employer National Insurance hikes estimated to cost the company £1.2m a week.
