The pub group has acquired the Jolly Farmer in Blacknest, Hampshire, after a “relatively quiet 2024 in terms of acquisitions,” according to CEO Mary Willcock.
Brunning & Price now has the financing structures and support team in place to step up its number of single-site acquisitions, Willcock added.
Geographical fit
Owned by Wagamama operator the Restaurant Group (TRG), the company operates c.79 pub-restaurants across the UK. It also operates Acorn Pubs, a collection of 10 sites that sits alongside Brunning & Price.
In May this year, Brunning & Price acquired 10 freehold pubs from Oakman Group, which represented a significant strategic opportunity and served as an “excellent geographical fit” within the existing estate, the group said.
It plans to renovate and reopen the Jolly Farmer by Christmas, as well as reopen the Mallard in Tidbury Green by autumn 2026.
On the hunt
Willcock commented: “Following a relatively quiet 2024 in terms of acquisitions, I am delighted that we are actively back on the hunt for new B&P pubs this year.
“The Jolly Farmer has the potential to be a fabulous little country pub and sits in a strong location for us in an area that we already know pretty well.
“It’s fantastic to see the ‘B&P family’ family growing again. While the recent acquisition of 10 pubs from Oakman Inns is certainly keeping us busy, we now have the financing structures and support team in place to step up the number of single site acquisitions.”
