Filming for the series has been underway recently in Borough High Street, London, and the coverage has suggested that the newly opened The Blue Maid in Borough High Street is likely to be the stand in for the story’s Leaky Cauldron.
Sadly the pub said it was unable to comment on the news, despite rampant fan speculation online, but the lack of confirmation has not stopped a wide variety of media arriving to film at the pub including Italian national broadcaster RAI.
In response to their visit the team at the pub said: “Thank you for getting in touch and for your interest in The Blue Maid, our beautiful London pub that dates back to before 1542, with almost 500 years of history! You’ll understand due to legal restrictions, the team at the pub cannot comment or interview with you. However you’re welcome to record any segment both inside and outside our pub. Best, The Blue Maid Team.”
Speculation started online and in the press after the actors playing Hagrid and Harry, Nick Frost and Dominic McLaughlin, were spotted filming in Borough High Street and outside the pub.
The Blue Maid, previously known as the Blue Eyed Maid, was recently reopened this year after being shut since 2019. A Wellington pub, it is now operated by Ironstone Pubs, with Simon Wallen and Dav Sahota, who also co-owns UnBarred Brewery in Brighton, and pizza brand Fatto a Mano together with Rupert Davidson.
Despite being open a few short months, the wet-led pub has quickly carved out a name for itself with a focus on great service and a quality craft beer offer.
