Delicious dog meals are on offer alongside fresh water, enticing toys and scrummy treats make the venue a paradise for pooches.

The Maltings, Old Hall, Warrington

A previous finalist in this category, the Maltings continues to go above and beyond for its four-legged guests.

Dog dinners, lunches and breakfast are available to fill the bellies of canine friends with an offer on Mondays where dogs can dine for £1, as well as afternoon tea.

Regular dog walks are a staple feature on the pub’s weekly events calendar, helping ‘man’s best friend’ to make even more new friends.

The Old Duke, Southport, Merseyside

Dogs are made welcome as soon as they step paws on the floor at the Old Duke with an array of treats and toys alongside beds and blankets to borrow upon entering the pub.

A clever cone system to match each dog’s temperament means staff, customers and fellow pooches can be confident in knowing how to approach four-legged guests.

While dogs are more than welcomed inside the pub, they are also celebrated online with a regular ‘dog of week’ feature on its social media.

Queen’s Head, Troutbeck, Windermere, Cumbria

This historic pub is nestled on the side of the fells in the Troutbeck Valley, providing a warm welcome to guests with two and four legs.

The team at the Queens Head aim to ensure dogs are treated like VIPs with each canine guest offered a sausage at breakfast for those staying overnight and washing facilities for mucky paws after a long hike on the fells.

The Robinsons-owned pub actively promotes its dog-friendly credentials on social media where it shares photos of visiting pups and runs popular competitions - like its festive Christmas dog photo contest.

The Red Lion, Long Compton, Warwickshire

The Red Lion has a high standard for dog-friendly hospitality, offering a warm welcome to canine companions across every part of the business and features a dedicated doggy menu, regular socials and a dog show, highlighting the Red Lion’s passion for pooches.

The pub’s social media presence, particularly on Facebook, is a key part of its strategy - sharing photos of visiting dogs and engaging with the local dog-loving community.

The Red Lion also supports local businesses by selling locally made leads and collars and is frequently recommended by nearby campsites and hotels for its dog-friendly ethos

The Mill, Stokesley, Middlesbrough

A community hub for dog lovers, the Mill has become a go-to spot for pet owners looking to socialise relax and treat their pooches.

The pub hosts a regular dog walk – Pups n Pints, which is a monthly event, run in collaboration with local people who meet and end at the pub, with bar snacks available for both humans and dogs.

Furthermore, it has introduced an ‘a la bark’ menu for canine guests alongside facilities such as dog beds, water bowls and blankets while the pub also teams up with a pet portrait artist, offering dog owners the opportunity to have a picture drawn of their pup.

With Bonfire Night a common evening for causing dogs distress, the Mill is made into a safe, quiet space for those who aren’t keen on the loud noises.
