Hosted by award-winning comedian and actor Seann Walsh, this year’s event, organised by the Morning Advertiser (The MA), took place at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on Wednesday 24 September, celebrating the best in the business.
Pub of the Year
The Crown Wharf, in Stone, was named the overall Great British Pub of the Year, after being crowned Best Town Pub.
Judges were impressed with the pub’s achievements in a short space of time. It saw off strong competition from other pubs across the UK, with 17 category winners revealed.
Other winners this year included historic rural retreat the Fleece Inn, Bretforton, which was named Best Country Pub while Blind Jack’s in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire was crowned the Best Pub for Beer.
Fantastic day
The Best Pub for Beer award was presented by the Society of Independent Brewers & Associates (SIBA), which sponsored the accolade, head of comms Neil Walker.
Speaking to the MA ahead of the awards, Walker said: “Looking around this room there’s lots of amazing pubs, it’s a fantastic day to celebrate great beer as well.”
