Revellers partied the night away at Great British Pub Awards last week, were you papped?

Held at the First Direct Bank Arena in Leeds city centre, the awards, organised by The Morning Advertiser (The MA) and now in their 26th year, celebrated the best in business.

This year’s awards were hosted by award-winning comedian and actor Seann Walsh and The MA editor Ed Bedington.

Hundreds of pubs entered the competition, before expert judges whittled it down across two rounds of judging with on-the-road site visits having taken place during the summer.

Sheer grit

The Crown Wharf, in Stone, which is a Joule’s Brewery pub, was named the overall Great British Pub of the Year, after being crowned Best Town Pub.

Judges were impressed with the pub’s achievements in a short space of time. It saw off strong competition from other pubs across the UK, with 17 category winners revealed.

On this year’s overall winner, Bedington said: “I take my hat off to Joules for having the courage, foresight and sheer grit to battle on to create such a stunning business, one that is a testament to everything we should celebrate about the Great British Pub.”

Other 2025 winners included the Fleece Inn, Bretforton, which was named Best Country Pub while Blind Jack’s in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire was crowned the Best Pub for Beer.

Shining a light

Shining a light on pubs across the country, Leeds saw two pubs win awards while the midlands saw success in Derbyshire, Warwickshire and Staffordshire.

The south was also home to some winning pubs, with champions in Dorset, London, Surrey and West Sussex. An interactive map of all the 2025 winners can be found here.

Many operators took to social media to share their highlights from the event.

The awards were kindly sponsored by Arla Pro, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, Admiral, Diageo, Greene King, Molson Coors, Star Pubs, Stonegate, Marstons, SIBA and Punch Pubs & Co.
