On Tuesday 4 November, the former Manchester United and England player was knighted by King Charles III during a ceremony held at Windsor Castle for his services to football and British society.
Following the ceremony, Beckham, who was joined by ex-Spice Girl wife Victoria and sons Romeo and Cruz, reportedly chose to mark the occasion at the Bull at Charlbury, near Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire.
Private party
A report in The Sun claimed the famed footballer booked the pub’s safari tent for a private event on Friday 7 November before joining locals in the main bar after dinner.
The private party of 30, which was said to have included director Guy Ritchie and footballer Gary Neville, allegedly sang along to songs by Oasis and the Rolling Stones with other revellers.
One eyewitness claimed the whole pub cheered “we love you Sir David Beckham, we love you Sir David Beckham” as the football legend danced.
The 16th Century pub with rooms opened in its current form in July 2023 following an extensive refurbishment by publicans James Gummer and Phil Winse.
Part of the Public House Group, the Bull was crowned the Best Pub for Food at the Great British Pub Awards earlier this year.
Special day
Also number 11 on the Top 50 Gastropub’s list, the Bull prides itself on its farm-to-table concept, with a dynamic and adaptable menu. Michelin starred chef Sally Abe is at the helm of the kitchen.
In an Instagram post last week, Beckham said he could not “begin to describe” the special day.
The post continued: “I am truly humbled and so grateful for this honour. I have been fortunate to represent our country and I’ve always done that with pride. I love our Royal Family and what it means to people not just in Great Britain but around the world. I could never have dreamed this would happen to me.
“All I have ever wanted to do is to make my family proud.”
