With the highly anticipated Eubank Jr v Benn boxing match taking place on Saturday 15 November, the broadcaster expects pubs to fill up to watch the clash that takes place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in north London.
Sky Business director of hospitality James Tweddle said: “Pubs have always been at the heart of the sporting experience – bringing fans together, creating unforgettable atmospheres, and turning big moments into shared memories.
“The upcoming clash between Eubank Jr and Benn is one of the most anticipated in British boxing and it’s exactly the kind of event that can draw crowds, fill a venue and energise customers.
Premium fight night
“With Sky Sports Box Office, pubs can deliver a premium fight night that keeps regulars coming back and welcomes new faces ready for the action.”
The rivalry between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn sees the pair return to the ring for their rematch, titled ‘Unfinished Business’, after their first encounter had a sell-out crowd of 70,000 people watching live at the same venue and ended in a unanimous decision victory for Eubank Jr.
The broadcaster also cited research that showed how pubs are so important to screening big sporting action. It said more than half of pub going sport viewers have either watched, or would consider watching, per-pay-view boxing in an out-of-home venue (source: Ipsos OOH Viewing Panel Sept 2021).
Sales uplift
And similar findings revealed 63% of pub-going sport viewers either watched boxing out-of-home in 2024 or would consider watching it in 2025 (source: Ipsos OOH Viewing Panel Jan 2025)
More than 1m people watched the Fury vs Usyk per-per-view fight out-of-home in May 2024 (source: Ipsos OOH Viewing Panel).
And, importantly for pubs and bars considering screening boxing at their venues, those that that took all three per-per-view boxing fights (between September 2021 and August 2022) achieved a 21% fight-day sales uplift vs Sky sites that didn’t take any of them (source: HDI – Value of Sport Analysis (Sept 21 to Aug 22 – Joshua vs Usyk *2 and Khan vs Brook).
