The competition operations accelerator is launching this year, with entries free and opening late spring, it aims to recognise, celebrate, nurture, retain and accelerate the next generation of industry leaders alongside building a connected community to support long-term sector success.
It will identify 20 of the UK’s top multi-site operational leaders on an annual basis, across pubs, bars, restaurants, QSR, casual dining and leisure.
Definitive benchmark aims
The scheme features national leadership screening, a three-day intensive masterclass with coaching certification, in-trade leadership assessments with senior mentor judges, strategic business planning and presentation panels as well as a growing alumni community.
North Star Hospitality is led by Lynda Merryweather as well as 2013 ALMR winner and Parkdean Resorts national operations director Barrie Robinson, hospitality multi-site operator and executive coach Matt Howcroft alongside creator of the original awards, Nick Bish.
North Star aims to become the definitive benchmark for operational leadership excellence in hospitality.
Career-changing award
For almost 20 years, the ALMR/UH Ops Awards propelled talent into senior operational roles across the sector.
Robinson outlined how his previous success at the awards impacted him and what his hopes for the reimagined programme will be.
He said: “Winning the ALMR award in 2013 was truly career-changing for me. Bringing this back through North Star is so exciting because it’s more than an award - it’s a platform to learn gain a qualification, grow a network and launch tomorrow’s industry leaders.”
