A Cut Above is a 4% ABV golden ale, made using a blend of Vienna and Cara malts alongside English Boadicea hops.
The brew is described as boasting spicy and floral notes with a light, crisp malt presence on the nose.
Latest addition
It will be available in Hydes throughout March, to mark the end of the 2026 Six Nations rugby tournament, before making way for the release of April’s blonde ale, Sherlock Combs.
Hydes’ 2026 seasonal cask ale calendar, made up of 12 hairstyle-themes brews, has already seen the successful debuts of Hairy Porter and Mullet Over.
Last month, the Salford-based brewer, which was founded in 1863, also released Mullet Over, a 4.2% ABV brown ale.

The historic pub operator and brewer said it hoped to engage cask enthusiasts with the range by using bold clip designs and creative storytelling.
Hydes managing director Adam Mayers added the latest addition to the line-up is perfectly timed for the changing season.
Great conversations
“A Cut Above is exactly what the name suggests, a well-groomed, premium golden ale that stands out on the bar”, he continued.
“We wanted something that felt refined yet accessible, especially as the atmosphere builds toward the conclusion of the Six Nations. It is a beer designed for those long afternoons in the pub where quality and drinkability are important.
“Customer feedback on our themed range has been fantastic so far. By pairing high-quality brewing with a bit of personality and humour, we are starting great conversations between our pub teams and our customers.
“A Cut Above is a testament to that balance, offering a clean, floral finish that signals the arrival of spring.”
