Future growth: Kingsland Drinks secures £65m funding from Barclays (Kingsland Drinks)

Manchester-based drinks specialist, Kingsland Drinks Group, has secured a £65m funding package from Barclays.

Based in Irlam, Greater Manchester, Kingsland describes itself as an insight-led distributor.

Founded in 1955, the business employs around 400 people and combines drinks creation with packing and bottling.

In recent years, the group has expanded its spirits range and moved into the fast-growing low & no alcohol category, while it continues to supply a number of products to the on-trade, including Australian wine brand Andrew Peace.

The funds, acquired with support from audit, tax and consulting firm RSM UK, will facilitate further growth and investment.

New phase

Since 2021, Kingsland has been managed by an executive board and board of trustees, with shares held in an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT).

Former Purity Soft Drinks CEO Sarah Baldwin has lead the company as managing director since December 2025.

“The past few years have seen some challenging times for the drinks industry and for Kingsland. We’re now moving into a phase of evolving the core business and securing long-term development opportunities”, Baldwin said.

“This funding will help secure an exciting future for the business as a pioneering force in the drinks industry, built on strong community roots where our people, heritage and quality continue to set us apart.”

Kingsland Drinks Group was advised by law firm Hill Dickinson LLP on the financing, while Barclays was advised by Addleshaw Goddard LLP.

Capital flexibility

“We are pleased to support Kingsland with a £65m Asset Based Lending facility that provides enhanced working capital flexibility and supports the company’s ongoing growth plans", Barclays Corporate relationship director Fiona Parkes commented.

“As an employee‑owned organisation entering its next phase of development, Kingsland represents a strong new client relationship for Barclays, and we look forward to supporting the business going forward."

RSM UK, led by head of debt advisory north west and Wales Ashley Suter, with support from colleagues Jack Williams and Sebastian Knight, also advised Kingsland on the funding package.

Suter added: “Kingsland Drinks Group has built a solid national reputation as an industry leading drinks specialist.

“We are thrilled to have supported the team with securing a funding package that will facilitate the businesses future growth and innovation.”
