Tilray, which acquired the global BrewDog brand back in March, says the bar has been reimagined as a ‘community-first venue that gives locals and community groups a formal voice in how it is run’.

BrewDog Inverurie initially closed as a result of the bar and brewer’s sale to Tilray, with the new owner crediting residents for ‘proactively organising and submitting a formal proposal to BrewDog to bring the bar back’.
New model
Under the ‘Community Champions’ model, BrewDog will own and operate the bar on a day-to-day basis with ‘local residents, OG Punks, and local organisations helping to shape events, programming, and decide how the venue can support community initiatives’.
The group intends to pilot the new model at Inverurie ‘before expanding in other bars in the UK’.
“Inverurie did something remarkable, the community came to us,” says Lauren Carrol, chief commercial officer at BrewDog.
“They put together a proposal and showed us what this bar means to them, so we listened and put a plan in place to reopen.
“The people of Inverurie have always been a special part of our story, so it is only right that they now help shape what happens inside their local bar.
“This is the beginning of a model we hope to grow.”
