Clifford said on LinkedIn: “Incredibly excited to be joining Public House Group this week as Managing Director.

“It’s a privilege to join such an exceptional team, doing truly exceptional things.

“Public House Group continues to set the standard for product, design, and people. Looking forward to what’s ahead, watch this space.

The gastropub group was founded by Phil Winser, James Gummer, and Olivier van Themsche.

With a market garden at Bruern Farms in the Cotswolds, its pubs include the Pelican and the Fat Badger, both in Notting Hill, the Hero in Maida Vale, the Hart in Marylebone and the Bull in Charlbury, Oxfordshire, which won the Great British Pub Awards’ best pub for food last year.

The appointment follows a period of rapid growth for the group, which told The Morning Advertiser (MA) last year it had built a central team to support expansion across sites including the Bull, the Hero, the Fat Badger and the Coach.

At the time, Gummer said the group’s focus was “trying to make sure every single customer that’s generous enough to choose to spend money with us” had the best possible experience.
