New data shows sales decline for pubs and bars last month

Pubs and bars experienced an overall decline in revenue in July 2026, versus the previous month, despite warm weather and sporting events that would traditionally support strong trading.

The latest Hospitality Index from Moore Kingston Smith (MKS) has found revenue for pubs and bar fells by 0.77% last month, while labour hours increased 1.65%, while year-on-year revenue growth by 0.70%.

While individual match days likely produced strong trading spikes, these benefits appear not to have translated into consistent monthly growth across the sector, the accountant and business adviser noted.
