The Milestone
This Willenhall-based pub has become a much-loved community hub in recent years, working with local groups and charities to support local causes and bring the community together.
The Milestone has teamed up with Community Matters, offers a food bank from the pub as well as hosting a weekly Safe Space where customers are able to access local services for free.
Throughout the year, there are huge fundraising efforts including a free Santa’s Grotto at Christmas alongside a summer fest community day.
The events have raised thousands for causes close to the pub’s heart including the Teenage Cancer Trust and West Midlands Air Ambulance.
Coach & Horses
With a focus on inclusivity and community spirit, Gloucester pub the Coach & Horses has made a significant impact on its local community in a short space of time, since it came under new ownership earlier this year.
Open seven days a week, the pub is a food bank donation point, hosts a plethora of events including fundraising for local charities alongside live music and open mic nights as well as DJ nights, karaoke and drag bingo, creating a safe space that welcomes all.
The summer saw it showcase fellow local businesses with its Saturday market in the garden.
Lock & Quay Community Pub & Gardens
This Bootle pub has established itself as a vital hub for community engagement, supporting social action alongside physical and mental wellbeing and environmental sustainability.
The Lock & Quay, a community-owned pub, reinvests every penny of profit into the local area.
Safe Regeneration took over the pub a decade ago after it fell into a state of disrepair and the social enterprise group, alongside members of the community refurbished it into the vital hub it is today.
Now, the canal side venue hosts live music, festivals and events throughout the year as well as offering a welcoming place to enjoy a pint or two.
The Swan
The Swan is no stranger to awards, having taken home the Best Community Pub title previously.
Community owned and independently operated, the Clewer site has become a thriving community hub since it reopened in 2019, following a period of closure.
The pub now hosts quiz nights, cheese evenings, courtyard markets, bike meet-ups and more.
Its annual SwanFest showcases live music, community celebration and lots going on for all ages including children’s arts and crafts as well as a Malteaser world record attempt.
Furthermore, it is also home to community groups, local clubs and even a sixth-form school.
Black Swan Public House & Theatre
This not-for-profit pub with its own theatre has made great strides in its community.
The pub, in North Walsham, Norfolk, not only hosts a variety of productions in its theatre but is also a space for groups including yoga classes, women’s wellness sessions and its choir.
All profits are reinvested into community projects, improvements to the theatre and running costs.
Recent months have seen the Black Swan offer free summer holiday activities for local families.
Chaplins & The Cellar Bar
Boscombe-based venue Chaplin’s & The Cellar Bar is a former Great British Pub Awards winner in the community category, thanks to its dedication to the audience it serves.
It champions local creativity, providing a platform for emerging artists, musicians and community groups while bringing people together through a diverse range of events.
The vibrant venue has cemented itself as the place for grassroots music and a community hub.
Live entertainment is on offer seven nights a week while it also runs charity events such as a multicultural festive, poetry nights food charity collaborations and foraging walks.
