The Tamworth Tap was created as a passion project by George and Louise Greenaway, initially designed to be an outlet for George’s micro-brewery output, the pub quickly grew and began to gather an astonishing reputation.
A regular winner of CAMRA’s pub of the year, the Tamworth Tap has grown to be a jewel in the crown of the town, alongside the impressive castle, which forms the backdrop of the pubs stunning beer garden.
Superb range
George said he opened the pub in the first place as a brewer told him that if was ever going to make his brewing project work, he’d need a taproom.
These days the pub is now not only stocking the company’s own brews, but showcasing beers from far and wide, both local brewers, but also beers from across the continent as well.
The Tamworth Tap now features 12 cask ale hand pulls, recently expanded from eight, alongside an impressive 20 keg lines, allowing George’s passion for serving a superb range of beer to be truly indulged.
Exceptional operation
Extensive work in the garden has created an oasis of calm in the centre of Tamworth, with the castle walls forming the boundary at the back. Further work is underway to create more space in the rear as well.
But its not all just about the beer, this is a pub that prides itself on its inclusivity and role in the community, providing a huge range of the events for customers, from fun activities such as “sip and paint” through to comedy nights, folk nights and even Faith on Tap which sees the local church set up service in the pub.
Judges praised the business for being an exceptional operation not just in beer, but in general, offering something to delight everyone.
