A contribution from every pint sold will go towards supporting veterans, serving personnel and their families.
It follows the success of last year’s campaign and builds on Alf Turner’s fundraising partnership with Help for Heroes.
Last year, Alf Turner and Stonegate raised £2,940 for Help for Heroes.
Common cause
The nationwide rollout across Craft Union and Publican Partnerships pubs saw 588 casks sold, equivalent to more than 41,000 pints.
Alf Turner managing director Paul Turner said the success had enabled the campaign to expand significantly this year, reaching more customers and generating further funds for the charity.
“We are incredibly proud to see so many of the country’s leading pub groups coming together behind Hero IPA and Help for Heroes,” he told The Morning Advertiser (The MA).
“Every pint of Hero IPA has a purpose. By simply enjoying a pint in their local pub, customers will also be making a contribution to a charity that provides vital support to our armed forces community.
“To have national and regional pub groups working alongside us, Hogs Back Brewery and Help for Heroes sends a really positive message about what our industry can achieve when we come together behind a common cause.”
Punch Pubs & Co.’s Stephen Martin said the company was actively encouraging its pubs to get behind the initiative.
Raising funds
A Brakspear spokesperson added: “Our pubs sit at the heart of their communities, so we’re glad something as simple as enjoying a pint can help make a difference to veterans and their families.”
Meanwhile, Stonegate commercial director Nick Marks said the group was proud to back “an important cause”.
Alf Turner began working with Help for Heroes in 2009 and has since raised more than £330,000 through sales of its food and drink products.
Hero IPA was originally launched in May 2025 to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
Brewed by Surrey-based Hogs Back Brewery using home-grown Cascade hops and Mosaic hops from the USA, the beer was developed with citrus and tropical notes, initially launching in cask and keg formats.
Turner added: “The message we want people to take away is very simple: raise a pint, raise funds and remember our heroes.”
