Brother and sister duo Josh and Holly Eggleton's country pub the Pony & Trap came second in this year's Top 50 Gastropubs, with chef patron Josh's cuisine revered as being some of the best British cooking in the country.
He said: "The pub is a British institution and in the last ten or fifteen years the pub has had to evolve... fine dining is changing and that might have been spearheaded by the pub movement."
A vocal advocate of of Bristol and Somerset's food, this year saw him star on BBC2's Great British Menu for the second time, winning the South West regional heat.
He also opened a standalone fish & chip shop, the Salt & Malt on Chew Lake, near the Pony & Trap and took on the role of guest chef for Bristol Sport throughout the Rugby World Cup.
