Back bar cigarette vending machine is legal

RPI rises to 5.6% in August

The Retail Price Index (RPI) measure rose to 5.6% from 5.2% in August, according to the Office of National Statistics.

Whitbread sees profits rise

Whitbread has reported a 15.2% rise in underlying profit for the six months to 1 September. Underlying profit before tax for the group was £174.9m (2010/2011: £151.8m) on revenue up 10.7% to £891.3m.
