Here a summary of what you can find in our latest e-reader version of The Morning Advertiser (MA) – and for a limited period, you can read it for free.

The latest e-reader edition of MA – which is only the third ever to be available online only – is available by clicking here.

Spotlight features

The Government has eased lockdown substantially since our previous e-reader magazine last month and we could, potentially, be less than a month away from pubs and bars reopening under the appropriate health conditions.

The Morning Advertiser magazine has gone digital-only on a temporary basis. To also further support our wider community at this time, we are making the issues available to our entire audience – for free. By filling in the form on the right, you will receive access to the digital edition plus an email reminder for any upcoming issues as they are published.

In this month’s issue of The Morning Advertiser, the spotlight falls on how a reduction in the two-metre social distancing limit will help the on-trade, not to mention possibly save hundreds of venues from calling time forever.

And we also set out the grants and loan schemes available from the Government to help all businesses try to get through this strange period.

Legal checklist

Our legal expert – Poppleston Allen – has a reopening checklist, which you can also see more in-depth at https://www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/All-products/Coronavirus-Licensing-Pre-opening-Checklist. This will be vital to businesses that want to make sure everything is above board and ready to go at their premises. There is also a useful guide to employing under-18s.

Senior features writer Stuart Stone talks to Jayson Perfect, pubs and inns managing director of The Liberation Group about the reopening phase for the outfit’s sites in this issue’s Big Interview.

The latest MA500 conference, which took place online, had some key speakers and great insight into the challenges and solutions industry leaders are dealing with.

Plus a look at the sporting scene at pubs with the focus on the return of the Premier League in just a few days.

Even though we have missed a huge chunk of the year, we have a list of dates for the upcoming 12 months where you can really make hay and get some serious cash into the tills.

There’s plenty on the food and drink scene too, including features from reporter Emily Hawkins on setting up your bar for when the doors finally reopen and adjusting your drinks and food offers to cater for – what will be – a slower start to business under proposed rulings, which includes social distancing in kitchens.

The £780m merger

There’s also a look at what is, arguably, the biggest deal to take place during the Covid-19 crisis that is the Carlsberg/Marston’s merger, worth an estimated £780m.

And managing editor Nicholas Robinson reveals what the Estrella Damm Top 50 gastropubs chefs have been up to via #theChefsPass Instagram challenge.

Production editor Gary Lloyd talks to Ashley McCarthy at Ye Old Sun Inn about preparations for reopening his North Yorkshire pub, how he has been coping and what he sees for the future of the pub trade.

There’s also a look at staff rotas, technology and property, plus senior writer Nikkie Thatcher scrubs up well with a feature on how deep cleaning and a need to improve hygiene measures will be a crucial part for any hospitality business during this phase.

The Morning Advertiser will continue to serve everyone in the sector by providing the latest news and developments as they happen online, and analysis in our digital monthly edition, and provide as much advice, support and information as possible to keep everyone going throughout the lockdown.
