Community pub operator Admiral Taverns has launched a new online support platform to help the publicans behind its estate of around 1,000 sites prepare for life after lockdown.

Digital platform Rising from Lockdown, which went live on 16 June, aims to help the Chester-based pub company’s licensees get to grips with the reopening process before pubs begin to resume trading on 4 July.

Available via Admiral’s website, the platform’s content is split into a weekly countdown to provide licensees with a roadmap of recommended actions and appropriate timings, and operational area, such as property, retail offer and marketing.

It also includes a checklist for licensees to ensure they’re complying with Government guidelines, a sample of licensee Covid-19 business risk assessments, a four-weekly operational plan and tips for the best way to tackle challenges posed by reopening.

In addition, the platform also hosts free online workshops from Pub and Bar Academy, focusing on Covid-19 safety measures, property readiness, cellar management and marketing.

“During the Covid-19 crisis, our approach has been to be as proactive and supportive to our licensees as possible and we were determined to ensure that they have some useful material available to help open their pubs when guidelines permit,” Admiral Taverns’ managing director, Ian Ronayne, said.

Rising From Lockdown gathers some tools, timely information and common sense reminders in one place to help licensees restart their businesses.

“Throughout Covid-19 our pub communities have been hugely supportive, and we can’t wait for our licensees to be able to welcome them back into their local pubs”.

Digital migration

The launch of Rising from Lockdown sees Admiral become the latest pub operator to unveil a digital support system for its staff and comes after the operator revealed its tenants are being offered tapered rent support from reopening all the way through to April next year.

As reported by The Morning Advertiser (MA) Stonegate Pub Company unveiled a new online platform designed to ‘keep the Stonegate spirit alive’ through the Covid-19 shutdown on 9 April in a bid to support furloughed staff.

What’s more, the Craft Union Pub Company has also launched an online community to support its publicans and help them create virtual pub events for their customers and staff.
