Our first MA Leaders Club event of 2022 will be taking place at the iconic Fabric nightclub in Farringdon, London this month (Thursday 24 February) as well as exploring Smiths of Smithfield before hitting the streets to uncover some of the most exciting venues in the area as part of the study tour.

When it comes to the conference, we’ve got some stellar speakers lined up including the chance to ask small business minister Paul Scully your burning questions and pick his brains on the Government’s attitudes towards to pub sector as we move into a post-Covid world.

The agenda also features Sapient Corporate Finance’s Peter Hansen who will be giving an overview of what’s been going on in terms of merger and acquisition activity over the past year and he will be looking at how he sees the market shaping up over the coming months.

Consumer trends

The MA Leaders Club is open to multi-site pub operators and meets three times a year around the country for a day of business-focused presentations from top experts and owner/operators. The day is followed by an evening study tour of new and exciting venues.

In addition, we’ve also got Jill Whittaker of HIT Training providing an overview of how to make the most of training opportunities and subsequent funding available to businesses.

We’ll also be hearing from CGA’s Jonny Jones to highlight the key consumer trends across the pub sector as we emerge into 2022 and hopefully from the grip of the pandemic.

On the subject of consumers, we’ll also be getting inside the mind of the post-pandemic customer and their attitudes to the UK on-trade with a live focus group, led by Lumina Intelligence.

Legislative update

Furthermore, we’re seeing increasing changes in the approach of pubcos to working in partnership with operators. We’ll be hearing from Punch Pubs and multiple operators and brewers Big Smoke on their joint venture, why it works, and how it could be an opportunity for others to follow.

UKHospitality chief executive Kate Nicholls will also be updating on the currently legislative landscape in a post-pandemic world and where the trade association is at on its campaigns on VAT and business rates.

Meanwhile, our operator panel will demonstrate how trade and consumer behaviour is as we battle our way forwards into trading without restrictions.

Headline sponsor of the MA Leaders Club is Molson Coors alongside associate partners CPL Learning, Davey Co, OrderPay, Pernod Ricard, Poppleston Allen, UCC Coffee, UKHospitality, Venners and Zonal.
