Bavarian-themed bar and restaurant Albert’s Schloss is set to open a site in Liverpool in November.

The Bold Street venue will be the third UK site for the Mission Mars-owned concept and follows its flagship bar on the ground floor space of Manchester’s historic Albert Hall and Albert’s Schloss Birmingham, which opened last year.

The premises joins another Mission Mars operation in the city – Albert’s Schenke on Hanover Street.

£3m investment

Missions Mars has invested £3m into Albert’s Schloss Liverpool, which will take over a former food market and the art-deco building used to be home to The Liverpool Gas Company but has lain empty since 2019.

With an Anglo-Bavarian design, the venue will be spread across two floors. The ground floor will house a stage area, two bars, a fresh tank bier system and a ‘Cook Haus’ dining area. The first floor will be home to ‘Ludwig’s Tavern’, offering artisan Schnapps, a vermouth bar, shuffleboard and other tavern games.

By night, Albert’s Schloss will show cabaret performances and live music. Meanwhile, the 130-cover Cook Haus restaurant will serve all-day dining.

Food is influenced by Prince Albert’s travels across alpine Europe, including classics such as Schweinshaxe and Schnitzel, with breakfast dishes like pancakes, avocado and eggs, and breakfast cocktails.

European beers

The Bier Palace will host a range of European beers including Pilsner Urquell from Czech Republic, and Paulaner Munich and Erdinger Weissbrau from Germany.

Roy Ellis, CEO of Mission Mars, UK hospitality operator for Albert’s Schloss, Albert’s Schenke, Albert Hall, Rudy’s Pizza Napoletana, and Zumhof Biergarten, said: “We are delighted to open Albert’s Schloss’s third site. The city has been a wonderful home to Albert’s Schenke and we cannot wait to have Albert’s Schloss join the party.

“We’ve designed a beautiful space, restoring a 1,000sq ft-glazed atrium while installing a large stage, green room, two large bars, an artisan bakery, a fresh tank beer system and restaurant dining across the two floors. We also have plans for a rooftop terrace and large open-air beer garden around the back.”

The new Liverpool venue will create 200 jobs.
