Fanzo – the fan engagement platform for venues, brands and sports fans – is close to completing its World Cup Fanzones where fans of competing countries at the football tournament can support their team with fellow fans.

The business that matches sports fans with pubs screening events has put together lists of different pubs that are hosting particular country’s World Cup matches in London so fans can meet others supporting the same team for the tournament that begins on Sunday 20 November at 4pm when hosts Qatar face Ecuador.

So far, there are 17 Fanzones set up for the countries of Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, England, France, Germany, Ghana, Mexico, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, South Korea, Wales and the US.

Magical moments

The company said it will announce Fanzones for the remaining 15 countries taking part soon.

Fanzo said: “One belief we hold very dear to us here at Fanzo is that sport is only truly lived if it’s shared. No matter the situation, those magical moments in sporting history that we hold dear to us are massively amplified when experienced with others.

“That’s why for the 2022 Qatar World Cup we’ve introduced Fanzones. All 32 competing nations in this winter’s tournament will have them. Their purpose and benefits to you couldn’t be simpler to explain. Have you ever fantasised about that perfect pub or sports bar? A place where the atmosphere is always electric, the pints are always cold and most of all, are filled with people all supporting your team. Impossible right? Wrong. After months of scouring London, we’ve found them and are pretty excited to share them with you.”

High standards

It continued: “Our Fanzones are quite simply the best places to watch football in London, particularly for the World Cup. We’ve gone through every possible pub with a fine toothcomb to weed out any that don’t meet our incredibly high standards.

“If you’re not an English or Welsh fan it can be especially hard to find places showing the matches you care about. That’s where Fanzones come in. No matter the time or date its affiliated nation is playing, rest assured, the corresponding fixture at each Fanzone will be televised.”

As an example, Argentina footy fans have been advised to congregate at Moo Cantina in Pimlico to get their footy fix with others who see the likes of Leo Messi and Diego Maradona as two of their heroes.
