Nine pubs and four licensees were honoured at Greene King Pub Partners’ Night of Excellence Awards this week (Monday 20 March).

The awards, which took place at the Crowne Plaza in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, celebrated the success of Greene King Pub Partners operators.

More than 200 pub and licensees entered the awards before the shortlist was whittled down to 30 finalists.

Comprising 15 accolades including Entertainment Pub of the Year and Beer Pub of the Year before an overall Pub of the Year was crowned.

Multiple gongs

The Stag at Lyndhurst, Hampshire was presented with the Pub of the Year award as well as Pub Team of the Year and Community Pub of the Year.

Licensee of the Ship in Chelmsford Grant Chinnery was presented with the Lifetime Achievement award in recognition of three generations of his family – including himself – running the pub.

Barons Pub Company founder Clive Price took home the title of Multiple Operator of the Year for the second year running.

Success celebrated

Greene King partnerships and ventures managing director Wayne Shurvinton said: “Congratulations to all the winners at this year’s Night of Excellence awards. A massive well done to the team at the Stag at Lyndhurst for winning Pub of the Year.

  • Pub Investment of the Year – the East End Fox, Glasgow
  • Pub Team of the Year – the Stag at Lyndhurst, Hampshire
  • Spirit Pub of the Year – the Wine Vaults, Banbury, Oxfordshire
  • Sport Pub of the Year – the Royal Exchange, Haverhill, Suffolk
  • Pub of the Year – the Stag at Lyndhurst, Hampshire
  • Franchisee of the Year – Ray Irwin and Bonnie Tarleton, the Guy Earl of Warwick, Welling, south-east London
  • New Licensee of the Year – James Harris and Nicole Yeoh, the Green Man, Winchester, Hampshire
  • Lifetime Achievement Award – Grant Chinnery, the Ship, Chelmsford, Essex
  • Further recognition was given to Tom Kerridge, for the excellent food offer and overall operation at the two Michelin-starred Hand & Flowers in Marlow, Buckinghamshire.
