Multiple operator Arc Inspirations is preparing to open its largest Box site in Brindleyplace, Birmingham next month (June).

The business currently has 18 venues across the Midlands and north of England under three brands – Banyan Bar & Kitchen, Box and Manahatta.

A sports bar and kitchen concept, Box is relaxed by day and energetic by night with something for everyone in locations including Leeds city centre, Headingley and Deansgate, Manchester.

The new site in Birmingham spans 10,000sq ft, holding 575 guests across two floors with the ground floor featuring an open kitchen, island bar, surrounded by 32 TV screens.

It will also be home to two 18ft maple wood European Shuffleboard tables for guests to enjoy.

The site will host live bands on Friday and Saturday evenings as well as Bandeoke on Thursday nights alongside a private karaoke room available for hire.

Popular addition

Food includes a range of dishes such as Tater Tots, Hot Honey Pizza and a Pizza Fondue while drinks on offer feature a newly developed menu with a speciality section devoted to Tequila-based cocktails.

Box Brindleyplace is Arc’s second venue in the city after it opened Manahatta on Temple Street in 2021.

Arc Inspirations CEO Martin Wolstencroft said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be opening our biggest venue ever.

“We love Birmingham and we are confident Box will quickly become a popular addition to the incredible nightlife and bar scene here, just like Manahatta has.

“Box has been a huge hit in major cities like Leeds and Manchester and this is the right time to bring the brand to the West Midlands.

“The new venue will create 70 jobs in the local area including managers, bar, floor and kitchen staff and we are truly delighted to be expanding our fantastic team.”

Company trading

The news comes after the company reported strong trading for the Box brand with like-for-like sales in the six weeks to the end of 2022 up more than a fifth (22%) year on year.

Furthermore, its Deansgate site in Manchester saw a record gross sales week, turning over more than £200,000 due to two England games in the men’s World Cup and the Tyson Fury v Derek Chisora III fight.

Arc posted record revenues for the year ending 31 March 2022 with plans to open at least two more sites in the next 12 months with a Box in Nottingham and Manahatta in Newcastle.

The company has been granted a licence to open a 12,000sq ft former All Saints store on Thurland Street in Nottingham while planning and licensing also approved at a former Allied Irish Bank branch on Collingwood Street, Newcastle.

The Leeds-based business is also hosting its first ever company-wide summer party this year.

Arc in the Park will take place at a secret location on 4 July with all 19 sites closing for the day to give all 1,000 team members the opportunity to enjoy a festival experience with drinks and music to be provided by suppliers and partners.
