The Six Bells in Shinfield, Berkshire, has reopened after a £300,000 investment by pub owner Greene King.

The pub will continue to be operated by partners and licensees Sachin Singh and Sunil Sharma (pictured below), who have run the business since 2018.

The investment has helped expand the pub’s trading space and upgrade its facilities with the highlight of the transformation being an extension to the pub, which will be used to cater for private events such as weddings, corporate events and birthday parties.

The outside seating area of the pub has been expanded with a high-specification pavement, doubling the outside seating capacity at the pub from 100 covers to 200 while the beer garden has been re-turfed with additional seating and a children’s play area.

New layout

Inside, new seating, tables and lighting have been installed while a new layout has been incorporated to increase the site’s trading capacity.

A sports area has been incorporated at the pub as part of its new layout that show sporting events from Sky Sports, BT Sport and Amazon Prime on HD TVs.

The Six Bells has historically been known for its fresh prepared and cooked north Indian cuisine that is served alongside traditional pub classics. However, as part of its transformation, the pub will now cater for an extended hospitality offering through its outdoor seating area and expanded trading areas.

The pub will now begin serving a carvery-style Sunday roast for the first time and a cocktail machine has been installed that serves 18 different cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks such as Mojitos, Margaritas and Espresso Martinis.

Exciting time

New events and theme nights at the pub, including a Bollywood night and a regular quiz night, are also slated to take place.

Singh and Sharma said: “This is a really exciting time for our business as we look to take our next step and grow through our expanded offer. We cannot wait to reopen and welcome people back into our transformed pub.”

Greene King Pub Partners managing director Dan Robinson added: “I am delighted with our investment in the Six Bells, which is also an investment in Sachin and Sunil as our partners and operators of this pub business.

“Our £300,000 investment has been used to greatly expand the trading footprint of the pub, enabling Sachin and Sunil to significantly extend their offer and grow their business.”
