Pearmain Pub Company has acquired a country pub and bowling venue King Pins prepares for its Manchester launch.

Country pub acquired by Pearmain Pub Company

The Brickmakers Arms in Windlesham on the Surrey/Berkshire border has been acquired by Pearmain Pub Company.

Fleurets has brokered the purchase of the leasehold interest from Elephant Inns while also negotiating the acquisition of the freehold from Stonegate Group for Pearmain.

Pearmain Pubs joint owner Richard Brown said: “We are delighted to welcome the Brickmakers Arms and are very confident it will be a successful addition being a great geographical fit to our existing business.”

King Pins comes to Manchester

King Pins, a new flagship bowling experience, is set to open in Manchester, Greater Manchester, on 17 July.

The venue will open in Trafford Palazzo, and will offer activities including Ten Pin and Duck Pin bowling, shuffleboard, ice free curling, air hockey, karaoke booths and arcade games.

It will also feature two independent food concessions PLY and Little Bao Boy, a full-service bar and a dessert kiosk.

King Pins brand manager James Travis said: “We’re looking forward to finally opening King Pins this summer at Trafford Palazzo.

“The offering at King Pins is like no other, we are all about quality as opposed to outdated family fun. We can’t wait to showcase everything on offer, including a truly state-of-the-art bowling experience and some top tier local food vendors.”

“King Pins will be a place for the whole family to have fun, but equally the space will transform by night into an entertainment venue with music, drinks and bowling which is also perfect for adults looking for something different.”

Heartwood Collection eyes completion of five sites

Heartwood Collection, formerly known as Brasserie Bar Co, is close to completing on five sites this summer.

These include the former George Evelyn pub in Long Ditton Surrey, and the 16th​ century coach inn the White Hart, Lewes, east Sussex.

In August, the group’s next site – the Black Swan in Henley, Warwickshire – is due to open in August. The inn will have 120 restaurants seats, 60 bar seats and 100 garden seats.

Greene King ploughs £300k into Six Bells revamp

The Six Bells in Shinfield, Berkshire, has reopened after a £300,000 investment by pub owner Greene King.

The pub will continue to be operated by partners and licensees Sachin Singh and Sunil Sharma (pictured below), who have run the business since 2018.

The investment has helped expand the pub’s trading space and upgrade its facilities with the highlight of the transformation being an extension to the pub, which will be used to cater for private events such as weddings, corporate events and birthday parties.

The outside seating area of the pub has been expanded with a high-specification pavement, doubling the outside seating capacity at the pub from 100 covers to 200 while the beer garden has been re-turfed with additional seating and a children’s play area.

F1 Arcade simulator brand announces £30m expansion

Competitive socialising brand F1 Arcade has secured a £30m investment to fuel the next phase of its international growth.

The first official F1 simulator racing experience that serves drinks and food has a site at New Change retail and leisure complex close to St Paul’s Cathedral in London with a second UK site slated for a November 2023 opening in Birmingham, is owned by Kindred Concepts whose founder and CEO is Adam Breeden.

The funding will support F1 Arcade’s international expansion plans, primarily in the US, where the business has a site in Boston set to open in 2024.

NQ64 launches biggest site to date

Arcade bar NQ64 has launched its biggest site to date and the first of its 10 locations to offer food. 

NQ64 Shoreditch is located on east London’s Old Street and is 9,000sq ft “neon-splattered drinking den”, which has more than 50 nostalgic and classic arcade games machines and consoles, including Pac-Man, Mario Kart, Guitar Hero, Time Crisis and Point Blank, with SNES, MegaDrive, Gamecube, Xbox and PlayStation on the console line-up.

The brand has expanded across the UK with two sites in Manchester and others in Liverpool, Birmingham, Cardiff, Soho, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle.

Admiral reopens Castleford pub after £335k investment

The Royal Oak Inn in Castleford has reopened following a combined investment of more than £335,000 from pubco Admiral Taverns and licensees Terry and Keeley Greaves.

Throughout the refurbishment process, the Greaves have managed to retain the pub’s character and historic features while enhancing the site’s look and feel with modern, industrial-style furniture and fixtures.

Inside, the pub has been completely redesigned, including newly painted dark blue walls with a mixture of wooden and tile flooring. There is also a new bar area and furniture, including tall tables and benches along with two traditional open fires to be used during winter. At the other end of the pub, a sports area complete with a pool table, darts board and flatscreen television have been installed.

Southampton pub unveils new play area

A Hampshire-based pub has opened a new play area to support its local community.

The Gamekeeper pub, near Woodlands in Southampton, has said it is ready to welcome children the new play area.

A garden area at the pub has been refurbished to home the play area, with a view to help entertain local children as well as support their physical and mental health through exercise.
