Inception Group, which operates the Mr Fogg’s brand, has signed a lease at Borough Yards to open its 15th site – with the proposed concept to be announced later this year.

The operator of “unique and eclectic hospitality concepts across London” has signed on a site in London’s Borough Yards at 20 Stoney Street.

Inception Group co-founder Charlie Gilkes said: “We are so excited to have signed the lease to this amazing, characterful site situated within an old railway arch.”

Original bar concept

He continued: “It’s located at the heart of Borough Market and we have exciting plans for a very original bar concept in this world-famous destination.”

The group’s sites include Mayfair-based Mr Fogg’s Residence, modelled on the real home of Jules Verne’s character Phileas Fogg; Mr Fogg’s Tavern, a Victorian-inspired pub in Covent Garden, and Mr Fogg’s Gin Parlour, which serves more than 300 gins; Mr Fogg’s House of Botanicals, a Fitzrovia-based “floral oasis”; and Mr Fogg’s Society of Exploration, which is close to Charing Cross station.

The group also runs three other Mr Fogg’s: Mrs Fogg’s Drinkery and Distillery, in Broadgate Circle; Mayfair’s Mr Fogg’s Apothecary, located opposite Claridge’s; and Mr Fogg’s Pawnbrokers on Dean Street, Soho.

Other brands

Its other brands are Cahoots, a 1940s-inspired bar set in a hidden underground tube station; Barts, a Chelsea speakeasy; Maggie’s an ’80s-themed late night bar in Chelsea; immersive Italian restaurant Bunga Bunga in Covent Garden; and Control Room B at Battersea Power Station.

Inception Group secured £6.7m backing from OakNorth Bank last month, which will extend existing facilities the business has with the bank, as well as funding the opening of new sites.

Gilkes said at the time: “With [OakNorth Bank’s] support, we’ve been able to open several new sites, including Control Room B at Battersea Power Station, which has exceeded our expectations in terms of performance. With this capital, we’ll be able to open additional sites and continue bringing our unique bars and restaurants to London’s residents and visitors.”
