East London-based Signature Brew, which is known for collaborating with musicians and bands, has launched its third crowdfunding campaign and is overfunding before the first day of the drive is over.

It had set a target of £700,000 and reached 104% of its total with 30 days remaining on its Seedrs campaign with the aim of increasing its business both nationally and internationally with its beers and music acts going on tour to pubs, venues and festivals across the UK.

Signature Brewery was founded by a brewer and a musician a philosophy to brew beer that makes music better.

It is the only UK brewery to have won the Society of Independent Brewers’ (SIBA) Brewery of the Year award twice and has worked with bands including The Prodigy, Lola Young, Hot Chip and IDLES.

400-plus on-trade stockists

Its beers, which include Studio Lager, Roadie All-Night IPA and Backstage IPA, are available to pubs and the off-trade.

For the on-trade, the business sells kegs and cans direct to pubs, bars and festivals and via wholesalers. It has more than 400 permanent stockists in the on-trade and targets 25% of these being music centric venues.

The on-trade is the company’s biggest source of revenue and where it forecasts the majority of its growth will come from, having listings already with Urban Pubs & Bars, Mitchells & Butlers, Young's and Fuller's.

Signature Brew is offering 3.71% equity giving it a pre-money valuation of £18.3m.

Goal still drives us

Co-founder of the Walthamstow brewery Tom Bott said: “Our original goal of making beer better at the venues and festivals we loved to go to still drives us today and through our community of artists, venues and partners, more and more venues are choosing to stock Signature Brew across the UK.”

Gus Unger-Hamilton from music band alt-J and Signature Brew investor said “Ever since alt-J collaborated with Signature Brew in 2018, I’ve loved the brewery and what the guys are trying to achieve with music and beer.

“Joe (band member) and I are passionate supporters of the business and can’t wait for the exciting journey ahead that awaits us all.”

Since 2011, Signature Brew has built its community of artists, brands and venues and claim to be London’s biggest independent brewery. Its beers are available at venues such as Strongroom, Rough Trade, Bush Hall and The British Music Experience.
