Brewer and pub operator The Five Points Brewing Company is now being overfunded after smashing its target fundraising target of £350,000.

The Crowdcube campaign – which aims to raise money to increase its brewery and taproom capacity and support new pub sites – still has more than a week to run and currently the total raised stands at £368,278.

The east London-based business said in its pitch: “Historically brewing became dominated by a handful of multi-national breweries and beers became bland and homogenised. Yet consumers still crave authenticity and independent, local and flavourful beers.

“We launched in 2013. Eleven years on, we still win awards for our flavour-forward beers, brewed with a commitment to the community, while our acclaimed venues allow us to sell direct to engaged consumers.

“Demand for craft beer remains strong – the market size by revenue of the UK craft beer production industry was £1.6bn in 2023, with growth of 5.8%.

Diverse customer base

“We brew and sell an award-winning range of craft beers to trade partners and direct to consumers through our own hospitality outlets and online.

“Our diverse customer base and ownership of our own hospitality outlets helps avoid over-reliance on any one sector and sets us apart in the market.

“Your investment will fund increased brewery and taproom capacity, support new pub sites, and strengthen our financial position for continued growth.”

It added its on-trade customers include Greene King, Mitchells & Butlers and Young’s.

£15.2m pre-money valuation

More than 530 investors have put money into the fundraiser with the company offering equity of 2.37%, giving the business a pre-money valuation of £15.2m.

The pitch shows what people can expect from their investments, which range from £25 up to £50,000-plus.

A £25 investment will give a donator a 5% discount online, at its Hackney pub the Pembury Tavern and at its taproom on Mare Street. The discount will also be valid at all new venues and exclusive early bird access to new beer releases and special events.

A £100 investment will offer 10% discount in all outlets plus 30% of your investment back as a bar tab. There is also a free birthday pint and early bird access to new beer releases and special events.

A £50,000 investment will give the investor 50% discount in all outlets and a bar tab, plus other perks along with a quarterly free case of beer and a quarterly board meeting invite and the opportunity to advise on the direction of the company.
