The MA Leaders Club event in Cardiff is taking place today (Thursday 16 May).

Delegates will be heading to the Welsh capital, which has previously been voted the Best City in the UK and the Friendliest City in the UK by Condé Nast, to hear a whole host of stellar speakers discuss a variety of topics.

Attendees will hear from top operators in the city including Tiny Rebel CEO Bradley Cummings and Croeso Pubs’ Nick Newman to find out what Cardiff is like to trade in.

Key trends

In addition, with energy markets volatile, Nationwide Energy will be outlining what operators need to know and should expect, as well as how they can try to protect themselves from potential spikes.

Key trends driving the sector will also be revealed by insight gurus Lumina Intelligence’s Maggie Davis who’ll be presenting highlights from the Pubs & Bars Market Report 2024.

There’ll be further expert insight from CGA by NIQ, where we’ll be hearing about the latest drinks trends as well as the latest on AI and tech in pubs.

Furthermore, Hestia CEO Andrew Fishwick will be discussing how his group is looking to invest in the sector, work with partners and build exceptional hospitality brands.

Vibrant scene

Cardiff is a Silver Sustainable Food Place 2021 award winner, becoming the first place in Wales (and one of just six places in the UK) to achieve the accolade.

With this in mind, Greene King, which won Best Sustainable Pub Company at this year’s Publican Awards, will talk to those in attendance about being more environmentally aware.

The event will be held at Sophia Gardens Cricket Ground before moving onto a study tour at different venues across the city to discover Cardiff’s vibrant on-trade scene.

At the previous MA Leaders event in Liverpool earlier this year, members heard from Hickory’s CEO John Welsh on his “excitement” for the future as well as City Pub Company founder Clive Watson, who reflected on his time in the sector.
