Greene King Brewery is launching two new limited-edition cask beers this July, including a collaboration with Punch Pubs’ owned Laine Brew Co.

The first beer collaboration between Greene King and Laine Brew Co will see the introduction of King Mango 4.3% ABV mango pale ale in July.

With a mixture of Mandarina, Bavaria and Cascade hops, Greene King said “this fruity pale ale is bursting with tropical notes of mango and passionfruit, with a background of citrus, tangerine and grapefruit”.

Based in Brighton, Laine Brew Co opened its brewhouse in 2011 and now offers a core range of craft beers and short-run specials.

The brewer currently has stockists in more 800 pubs, bars, restaurants and supermarkets across the UK and King Mango is the latest addition as a short-run special with Greene King. The beer will be available for customers to order across July and August.

Full of citrus notes

From mid-July and into August, Greene King will launch its second limited-edition beer, Belhaven Scorcher.

Celebrating the brewery based in Dunbar, Greene King said Belhaven Scorcher is a 3.8% ABV bright session ale that is “full of citrus notes that offers a refreshing taste on warm summer days now that they have finally arrived”.

Dunbar is commonly known as ‘Sunny Dunny’ due to the amount of sunshine it gets, making it one of the sunniest places in Scotland, which is where the name for the beer, Scorcher, came from.

The design showcases the Bridge to Nowhere in Belhaven Bay, which is located 500 steps from the brewery.

Belhaven Brewery has been a part of Greene King since 2005, however, it has been brewing beer for more than 300 years.

Try other styles

Greene King marketing director for brewing & brands Will Hemmings said: “We continue to find ways to innovate with cask beer and the ‘Fresh Cask Releases’ calendar is a perfect example where we’ve created delicious limited-edition beers that encourage guests to try other styles and explore the market.

“It has been a brilliant experience working with Laine Brew Co to create King Mango and it’s an honour to work with other breweries who have the same passion for cask beer. We look forward to working with them again in the future.

“Our Belhaven Scorcher is also a brilliant new entry into the calendar and is a great opportunity for us to showcase the brilliant work and flavours of our much-loved brewery in Dunbar. As a session ale, Belhaven Scorcher is worth adding onto the bar to drive guests to explore flavours and styles this summer.”

Meanwhile, False Nine, Greene King’s football-themed cask beer, is still available to order until the end of the tournament on 14 July.
