Woodforde’s Great Eastern back on track for March

MA The Cask Project

Norfolk brewery Woodforde’s has relaunched its popular seasonal beer Great Eastern 4.3% ABV Pale Ale.

The cask beer is available in March with the brewer stating: “Great Eastern is a celebration of bold, refreshing flavours.

“Crafted using a carefully curated blend of American and French hops, this pale ale delivers an invigorating burst of grapefruit and papaya, coupled with the luscious sweetness of freshly picked strawberries.

“The floral and lime aromas dance in perfect harmony, enhanced by a masterful combination of four malts, offering balance and depth to every sip.

Homage to railway

“Whether you’re a long-time fan of Great Eastern or experiencing it for the first time, this beer is sure to captivate your taste buds and leave you longing for another pint.”

Great Eastern pays homage to the Great Eastern Railway, an integral part of Norfolk’s rich industrial and transport history.

Established in the 19th century, the Great Eastern Railway connected Norfolk to London and beyond, bringing prosperity, innovation and cultural exchange to the region.

Woodforde’s added: “By reviving Great Eastern, we honour the spirit of progress and connection that the railway symbolised – just as it once linked communities, this beer now unites ale enthusiasts in their shared appreciation of exceptional cask brewing.”

First seasonal cask of 2025

Head of on-trade sales James Ramm said: “Having been a fan favourite in the past, Great Eastern is making its well-deserved comeback as one of our first seasonal cask releases of 2025.

“We’ve listened to your calls for its return and we’re thrilled to have it back at pubs and venues across Norfolk.”

Woodforde’s warned Great Eastern is available exclusively in cask to its trade customers for just one month so stock up while you can.

The brewer launched its first low & no beer in December last year in the form of Volt 0.5%, which it said retains the same taste as its award-winning original 4.5% ABV version.
