In close proximity to Alexandra Palace, Tottenham Hotspur FC and Saracens rugby ground, the Arnos Arms is a pub with the potential to attract plenty of people.

The north London site is also located a stone’s throw away from Arnos Grove Underground station and there are plenty of nods on-site to reference the stop.

Here, general manager Mike King tells The Morning Advertiser all about the Southgate pub.

The Arnos Arms has been at the heart of the Arnos Grove community for years.

For the previous seven years, it was run by a company called Craft Locals, which did a terrific job in running a top-quality food and drink venue, of which there are none similar in the area.

As part of the change of ownership, I was given the opportunity to carry on their great work in this beautiful venue.

The Arnos Arms is a big, open pub set across one floor with a relaxed pub area that shows sport across seven TV screens and a separate dining area where full table service is provided to really enhance that special guest experience.

As well as all this it has a 300-cover garden, which acts as a real suntrap. We run several offers and reasons to visit throughout the week, including our ever-popular pub quiz on a Monday night.

I have been working in the industry for 15 years now, 11 of which have been spent working for Mitchells & Butlers, as part of the Castle brand.

The trade

We are very much a residential pub with a bit of workforce trade from nearby offices and schools.

Being so close to Arnos Grove tube station means we tend to see a post-work rush as people get off the tube and join us for a drink or a bite to eat on their way home.

Our Sundays are also very popular as we offer a full Sunday roast menu up until 9pm. We also run a two for £15 cocktail offer from Monday to Thursday, which our guests enjoy.

The team

Aside from myself, we have a deputy manager and an assistant manager, then three shift supervisors to form our front-of-house management team.

Our kitchen team is made up of a team of seven chefs, who all have a real passion to deliver great food.

The drink

The honest answer is, we serve a bit of everything. From an extensive cocktail menu to four rotational craft beer taps. As well as an ever-growing list of non-alcoholic and gluten-free drinks.

The food

We serve high-quality, traditional pub food, blended with regular specials and a pizza menu that we run seven days per week.

The events

We are renowned for our weekly quiz every Monday, which also goes hand in hand with our two for £15 cocktails Monday to Thursday and our Monday £1 drink with any pizza deal.

As well as a weekly quiz night, we also host regular live music sessions throughout the week.

Seasonal events are also a favourite of ours so, in summer, we have garden parties and, in winter, we celebrate all the key dates with themed events, Halloween, Burns’ Night, Christmas, etc.

The future

As spring and summer approach, there will be a big focus on upgrading various parts of our garden area so guests can enjoy it even more in what will hopefully be a hot summer.
